PURPOSE OF THE ROLE 

The Global Media Relations Manager will drive the strategy and execution of media relations globally for Avolta. The position holder is responsible for shaping the company’s media narrative, managing relationships with key business and financial journalists, supporting communications around quarterly earnings and the annual report. This role fosters a culture of continuous improvement within the Communication Department and champions the creation of a cohesive global team, united by empathy, respect and a shared vision for excellence. The position holder leads the small Media Relations Team and will be reporting to the Director of Global Corporate Communications. The position is based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and business travel is required up to 30%.  

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

Media Strategy & Relations  

  • Develops and executes a global media relations strategy to elevate Avolta’s visibility and reputation in business and financial media 

  • Leads the creation, review, and distribution of press releases, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy and brand identity 

  • Builds and nurtures relationships with top-tier business and financial journalists to secure strategic media coverage 

  • Manages media inquiries, ensuring timely and accurate responses that reflect the company’s objectives 

Executive & Financial Communications  

  • Prepares C-suite executives for media engagements, interviews, and public appearances, providing media training and messaging support 

  • Supports quarterly earnings communications, drafting materials, coordinating with investor relations, and managing related media interactions 

  • Develops and oversees financial media materials, including fact sheets, Q&As, and talking points, tailored for business and financial audiences 

  • Guides leadership in handling crisis communications, mitigating reputational risks 

Content & Collaboration  

  • Ensures consistent messaging across press, external, and internal communications by collaborating closely within the Global Communications team  

  • Oversees the creation of media content that supports the brand’s goals, such as press releases, media kits, and talking points 

  • Partners with internal teams to enhance the flow of communication, refining internal processes for a seamless experience across global teams 

Reporting Analysis & Technology Integration 

  • Tracks and analyzes media coverage and sentiment, using insights to inform and adjust media relations strategies 

  • Leads the integration of AI tools to streamline internal media processes and optimize media relations efficiency 

  • Fosters a culture of continuous improvement within the Communications team, encouraging collaboration and development across global offices 

 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR  

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, business or related field 

  • 8 years+ of experience in media relations, ideally within a large multinational company or a financial/business environment  

  • Excellent communication skills in (business) English, with the ability to translate complex corporate information into clear, engaging press materials  

  • Strong understanding of financial communications and experience with earnings processes  

  • Proven experience managing high-profile media inquiries and building relationships with top-tier financial and business journalists 

  • Experience working closely with senior executives on media strategy and positioning  

  • Stong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
