Purpose: The Senior Director of Adult Beverage shapes and leads the strategic direction of HMSHost North America's adult beverage program. This role oversees product selection, beverage innovation, industry partnerships, marketing strategy, team leadership, training programs, operational support, and financial performance.  

 

Essential Functions: 

  • Drives the development and execution of licensed adult beverage concepts and supports all bar development and opening initiatives 

  • Directs product selection, implementation, and compliance for all bar-related items, including beer, wine, spirits, signature cocktails, mixers, barware, and glassware 

  • Leads manufacturer, supplier, and distributor relationships to drive program success 

  • Designs, implements, and manages comprehensive bar training programs covering product knowledge, mixology skills, service standards, and required certifications 

  • Analyzes financial performance of bar programs and concepts; identifies opportunities to optimize sales, cash flow, marketing promotions, and pricing strategies 

  • Cultivates partnerships with adult beverage brands to develop and operate licensed AB-themed concepts (restaurants, bars, kiosks, etc.) 

  • Oversees the development and rollout of AB partner licensed bar concepts in partnership with the Concept Development team 

  • Collaborates with the Portfolio Development team to seamlessly integrate licensed brand beverage programs into HMSHost's operational platforms 

  • Engages in the Concept Development Process with cross-functional teams (Culinary, Design, etc.) to create, maintain, and innovate proprietary bar concepts 

  • Partners with Marketing, third-party agency, suppliers and distributors to create impactful beverage marketing campaigns and visual merchandising aligned with market trends and guest expectations 

  • Represents HMSHost at industry events, panels, and networking opportunities to strengthen brand presence and industry influence; contributes expert insights to industry publications and media as a recognized leader in the adult beverage sector 

 

Reporting Relationship: The Senior Director of Adult Beverage reports to the Senior Vice President, Concept Development, Brand Partnerships & Adult Beverage 

 

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment:  

  • Education and Experience: The combination of education and professional experience must exceed 10 years: 

  • In a leadership role: Requires 5 years of experience leading a senior level team of Operations professionals engaged in developing and executing adult beverage programs 

  • In a technical role: Requires 10 years of experience engaged in developing and delivering adult beverage programs 

  • A bachelor’s degree in a program related to the functional area can count for 3 of the ten-year requirement 

  • An MBA or a master’s level degree in a program related to the functional area can count for an additional 2 years of the ten-year requirement  

  • In the industry: 3-5 years of Hospitality, F&B and/or Retail experience  

  • Strongly preferred: professional certifications in mixology, sommelier, cicerone, or related fields  

  • Specialized Skillset/Competencies/Traits 

  • Proven experience managing national supplier and distributor relationships. 

  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills with experience representing brands at industry events 

  • Ability to analyze market trends and financial data to drive program growth. 

  • Innovative mindset with a passion for developing market-leading beverage concepts. 

  • Advanced business acumen and also has the strategic mindset required to understand the long-term implications of management decisions and to advance the organizations goals 

  • Demonstrated history of anticipating the needs of the business and complex stakeholders, the employee population and individual circumstances 

  • Demonstrated history of creating and maintaining positive work environments through coaching, developing, and leading teams to achieve common goals 

  • Demonstrated experience exhibiting a continuous improvement mindset with the ability to optimize work processes and achieve positive results 

  • Location/Travel: 

  • This position may be remote 

  • This position requires up to 50% travel to the F&B Center of Excellence, Retail Center of Excellence, airport locations and industry events
