Advertised Compensation: $85,400.00 to $100,500.00 

Purpose: The Compensation Analyst provides analytical support for the administration and management of the company’s compensation programs, including base salary, incentive compensation, and job evaluation processes. This role serves as a compensation expert on the Total Rewards team delivering data-driven insights and recommendations that support competitive market positioning and compensation strategy across the organization while maintaining the integrity of corporate and field salary structures.  

 

Essential Functions:

  • Serves as an internal consultant and subject matter expert to business leaders and regional/field People & Culture professionals on compensation-related questions including salary recommendations, transfers, and market adjustments; provides guidance on pay equity and compensation policy interpretation
  • Maintains the company’s corporate and field salary structures with diligent attention to structure integrity; conducts analysis and makes recommendations for the annual salary range adjustment, monitors job placement within structures, and identifies opportunities for structure optimization
  • Provides analytical support in the administration of F&B and retail operations quarterly incentive plans, short-term incentive (STI) plans, and long-term incentive (LTI) plans; provides assistance with STI and LTI calculations, validating eligibility and performance metrics, preparing plan documents, coordinating payout processing with Finance and Payroll, reconciling accruals, and maintaining all incentive compensation documentation
  • Supports the annual salary review process including developing tools and templates, coordinating timeline and deliverables, analyzing budget impact, and assisting with communicating policy decisions to stakeholders
  • Conducts market analysis to evaluate competitive positioning of jobs and compensation programs; prepares detailed analysis with recommendations for compensation structure adjustments and market alignment
  • Supports management of the North America PEX budget by serving as a liaison to Corporate Finance and global; maintains and updates budget data in Anaplan including mapping new hires to budgeted vacancies, reconciling actuals against approved headcount, and ensuring adherence to PEX budget parameters
  • Leads the company’s compensation survey participation determines appropriate surveys to participate in, manages survey submission, analyzes survey results to maintain competitive positioning, and translates survey findings into actionable recommendations
  • Assists the job evaluation process and job description development; conducts thorough job analysis, writes and updates job descriptions, determines appropriate FLSA classification and grade level placement, and ensures alignment with organizational structure and compensation philosophy
  • Assists in the development and delivery of communication materials and training resources to enhance understanding of compensation philosophy, programs, and processes; provides proactive support to field People & Culture on hourly compensation issues and assists with all questions related to pay procedures and exceptions to compensation philosophy

 

Reporting Relationship: The Compensation Analyst reports to the Director of Compensation

 

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment:

  • Education and Experience: The combination of education and professional experience must exceed 5 years:
    • Requires 5 years of progressive analytical experience with focus on compensation analysis, financial analysis, HR analytics, total rewards, or incentive plan administration
      • A bachelor's degree in Business Administration concentrating in Finance or Human Resource or related field can count for 2 of the five-year requirement
    • Industry Experience: 3 years of Hospitality, F&B, and/or Retail experience preferred
  • Specialized Training:
    • Training that leads to understanding of the tenants of a compensation philosophy, job evaluation methodologies, benchmarking, and market analysis preferred
    • Familiarization of federal and state DOL, FLSA, pay equity, pay transparency, and other applicable compensation regulations preferred
  • Specialized Skillset/Competencies/Traits:
    • Exceptional attention to detail with demonstrated accuracy in complex compensation calculations and data analysis
    • Ability to work efficiently and deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines; demonstrates consistent quick turnaround of work and fast response times on communication
    • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially in Excel including pivot tables, VLOOPUP, INDEX/MATCH, complex formulas, and data modeling; proficiency in HRIS systems (preferably Success Factors), compensation management platforms, and data analysis tools
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to analyze and integrate complex data from multiple sources, conduct market analysis, and present actionable insights
    • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build consensus and collaborate with stakeholders while maintaining budget discipline and fiscal responsibility
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with ability to present compensation strategies, policies, and decisions to diverse audiences across various organizational levels
    • Business acumen and also has the mindset required to understand the long-term implications of compensation planning and to advance the organization’s goals
    • Demonstrated history of understanding the needs of the business, stakeholders, the employee population and individual circumstances
    • Demonstrated history of creating and maintaining positive work environments

  • Location: This role is based at the North America Support Center in Bethesda, MD
