Planner - Core Beverage, Snacks & Candy

Purpose: The Planner is responsible for inventory planning of company retail categories, analyzing sales and stock performance, and acting as a financial checkpoint to ensure productivity and profitability.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Oversees Categories including Core Beverage, Snacks & Candy assortments across multiple buyers
  • Forecasts sales by category down to the sku level for all planned buys in partnership with the field and Buying team; identifies opportunities and liabilities
  • Partners with Buyers, Vendors and Supply Chain to plan, forecast, and monitor inventory; identifies and executes sales and margin opportunities
  • Works with vendors to forecast in order to have the appropriate amount of inventory in the right place at the right time
  • Implements auto-replenishment for assortments to maintain agreed upon stock levels
  • Executes in partnership with Buyers and Supply Chain the markdown strategy to avoid inventory obsolescence and optimize return on inventory investment
  • Identifies best-selling products with a view to maximizing sales while identifying products to be delisted
  • Partners with Operations and Commercial Supply Chain teams to understand variance root causes; selects, implements, and tracks corrective actions
  • Prepares and analyzes financial results presented to airport administration
  • Generates Business Plan/Tender data pack for all types of projects: new store, new airport, and tender

 

Reporting Relationship: The Planner reports to the Director of Merchandise Planning

 

Major Interdependencies: Operations, Supply Chain, Business Development

 

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment:

  • Education and Experience: The combination of education and professional experience must exceed 5 years:
    • Requires 5 years of retail experience engaged in developing and delivering planning programs
      • A bachelor’s degree in a program related to the functional area can count for 3 of the 5-year requirement
    • In the industry: 3-5 years of Retail experience 
  • Specialized Skillset/Competencies/Traits:
    • Knowledge of financial tools and concept profitability; understanding and use of market research and market trend information
    • Extensive experience of implementing and utilizing a OTB system when managing sales forecasting
    • Highly advanced business acumen and also has the strategic mindset required to understand the long-term implications of management decisions and to advance the organization/s goals.
    • Demonstrated history of anticipating and balancing the needs of the business with the needs of complex stakeholders, the employee population, and individual circumstances
    • Demonstrated experience exhibiting a continuous improvement mindset with the ability to optimize work processes and achieve positive results.
  • Location: Requires regular attendance at the North America Support Center in East Rutherford, NJ
