As a Retail Stock Manager at Denver International Airport, this role drives advanced inventory planning, demand forecasting, vendor management and cross-functional collaboration to ensure operational excellence. Managing multi-shift stock teams and utilizing enterprise systems, the Retail Stock Manager focuses on optimizing inventory accuracy, reducing carrying costs and shrink and maintaining efficient merchandise flow to support sales and margin objectives.

Salary Range: $73,921.00 up to $86,966.00 plus quarterly bonus opportunities!

Key Responsibilities

  •  
    • Lead advanced inventory planning, demand forecasting, and replenishment strategies to balance in-stock rates, turns, and working capital; align plans with the Retail Director of Operations. 
     
    • Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) and performance standards across multiple shifts/departments; ensure consistent execution, compliance, and safety. 

    • Manage Stock Shift Managers and larger stock teams; hire, onboard, train, and conduct performance management and succession planning to build bench strength. 

    • Own escalated vendor relationships, including contract negotiations, service-level agreements (SLAs), and performance reviews; manage freight optimization, delivery scheduling, and cross-docking to reduce lead times and costs. 

    • Analyze inventory, sales, promotion lift, and market trends to optimize order quantities, product mix, turns, and gross margin; implement advanced forecasting models and maintain accurate perpetual inventory. 

    • Implement comprehensive asset protection programs; lead cycle counting, root-cause analysis for variances, and corrective actions to minimize shrink. 

    • Partner with merchandising, sales, and marketing on promotions, seasonal resets, and launches; ensure allocation accuracy and timely floor replenishment across multiple departments. 

    • Utilize ERP/WMS/RMS platforms (e.g., SAP/Oracle, Blue Yonder/JDA, Manhattan, RMS) for inventory optimization, labor planning, and performance analytics; deliver KPI dashboards and recommendations to senior leadership. 

    • Plan and execute complex annual physical inventories with internal teams and external partners; lead process improvements to drive count accuracy and audit readiness. 

    • Manage stock operations budget (labor, freight, vendor expenses, operational investments); analyze P&L impacts and implement cost-reduction and ROI initiatives while maintaining SLAs and service levels. 

    Qualifications 

    Education & Experience 

    • 5+ years combined experience in inventory/stock operations, supply chain, or multi-unit retail logistics. 

    • 3+ years in a supervisory/management role leading multi-department or multi-shift stock teams in mid-to-large retail environments. 

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or Operations Management preferred (may count for up to 3 years of the experience requirement). 

     

    Technical Skills 

    • Proficiency with ERP/WMS/RMS platforms (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Manhattan, Blue Yonder/JDA) and reporting tools (Excel—VLOOKUP, PivotTables; Power BI/Tableau preferred). 

    • Expertise in demand forecasting, replenishment planning, ABC/XYZ analysis, safety stock, and order parameter optimization (MOQ, EOQ, lead-time modeling). 

    • Strong knowledge of loss prevention, audit controls, and inventory accuracy programs (cycle counts, root-cause, corrective action). 

    • APICS/ASCM CPIM or CSCP certification preferred. 

    • Lean Six Sigma Yellow/Green Belt a plus. 

    • OSHA safety training (PIT/MHE) and hazardous material handling awareness preferred. 

    • Physical Requirements:  

    • Walk/stand for extended periods in stockrooms and on sales floors. 

    • Lift/carry up to 50 lbs regularly; frequent bending, reaching, and ladder use. 

    • Work Environment:  

    • Fast-paced retail stockroom and back-of-house environments; variable temperature and noise levels. 

    • PPE as required (safety shoes, gloves, high-visibility apparel).

    Schedule & Reporting 

    • Reports to: Retail Director of Operations. 

    • Classification: Exempt (FLSA)—qualifies under Administrative and Executive exemptions. 

    • Schedule: Strategic, flexible presence required during peak receiving periods, vendor meetings, promotions, and inventory events; may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
